It has a vulcanised liner on a rigid ring that minimises deformation during assembly between the flanges and greater dimensional accuracy during the injection moulding, while also allowing easy system maintenance.
The valve disc circumference has a lapped surface, which provides better tightness and less wear of the liner, while lower friction reduces torque requirements.
