VIEW PRODUCTPoppet valves are used to safely control the flow of intake and exhaust gases to your cylinder. The plug at the end of the valve stem is held in its seat, keeping the valve closed until a predetermined pressure is reached, permitting gas flow between the 2 valve regions.
The complete range of directional poppet valves from Hytec SA is manufactured and sourced from Bosch Rexroth to guarantee quality and performance. The advantages and benefits of these poppet valves include:
Our extensive range of hydraulic products consists of over 500 different components, including directional poppet valves manufactured by Bosch Rexroth. Also included in our range are hydraulic pumps, gearboxes, coolers, valves, pilot control units, motors, cylinders, hoses and fittings, maintenance tools and accessories.
In addition to our extensive range of hydraulic products, we also offer world-class repair, service, testing and calibration and installation facilities to meet the requirements of any application.
Hytec SA is the only certified Bosch Rexroth Service Centre in Africa. This means that when you send a Bosch Rexroth hydraulic component to Hytec SA for service or repair, it will be configured according to the same precise quality standards as adhered to at the Bosch Rexroth facility in Lohr, Germany – ensuring you maintain German-engineered standards of quality in Africa.
Bosch Rexroth Africa capitalises on more than 50 years of experience in the manufacture, design, installation and repair of hydraulics. This ensures customers get the most efficient hydraulic component or hydraulic system from a single source. Bosch Rexroth Africa sources its leading hydraulic products from market-leading brands such as Intertraco, Walterscheid, Olaer, ASA Hydraulik, Sesino and Bi-Effe

Poppet valves are used to safely control the flow of intake and exhaust gases or fluids to a cylinder, in a pneumatic or a hydraulic system.
A valve regulates the flow of fluid or gases in a circuit, by opening and closing the passageways in the circuit.
In a poppet valve, the device that closes or opens the passageways is a stem with a rounded tip (shaped much like a mushroom). This rounded tip pushes against the seat of the valve (i.e. the doorway to the passageway), blocking it off. The pushing action is provided by fluid action, or by an internal spring system or solenoid coil.
Once a predetermined pressure is reached, the poppet moves away from the seat, permitting gas/fluids to flow between the 2 valve regions.
A relief valve protects against a build-up of too much pressure (which may cause equipment damage and even explosions that are hazardous to personnel).
In the case of a poppet style valve, when the pressure inside a system exceeds the pre-determined safe maximum pressure, it overcomes the force of the spring in the poppet valve, opening a path and thereby also removing the excess pressure from the system.
A check valve allows fluid/gas to flow in one direction, but prevents it from flowing in reverse or in the opposite direction. In the case of a poppet type check valve, when the pressure on the poppet valve is diminished sufficiently, the spring pushes it against the seat, closing off the flow of fluid/gas altogether.
In a poppet valve, the movement of fluid/gas flow is controlled by lifting or lowering a valve against a sealing surface. By contrast, in a spool valve, the valve element is a cylinder which moves back and forth inside an outer case or body. There are holes (ports) along the spool body, fitted with O rings that provide a seal. These are opened or closed as the valve cylinder moves forward or backwards, and this controls the movement of fluid/gas through the valve. Usually, the movement of the valve cylinder is provided by a solenoid coil. View the Hytec SA range of Bosch Rexroth directional spool valves, here.
