Pneumatic Actuators

Pneumatic actuators from Tectra Automation include bellows actuators, rotary actuators and diaphragm actuators. They are easy to integrate into any pneumatic system – new or retrofitted – and are ideal for a range of mechanical functions, from heavy industry to medical technology.

Tectra Automation, a Bosch Rexroth Africa Company, is an authorised African distributor of Aventics (formerly Rexroth Pneumatics). Implement the industry-leading standards of this German-engineered brand in your pneumatic system with our range of pneumatic actuators!

Pneumatic Actuators from Aventics

Converting compressed air into mechanical motion is a central part of any pneumatic system. When choosing your pneumatic actuator to achieve this, high-quality, reliable components that are virtually maintenance-free maximise your efficiency.

Whether it is in rotary or short- or long-stroke linear pneumatic actuators, Aventics is a world leader in pneumatic engineering performance!

Aventics bellows actuators

Bellows actuators are ideal for short strokes and large forces. Their design enables them to work without mechanical friction surfaces that move against each other. This makes rendering seals and lubricants unnecessary, making them virtually wear- and maintenance-free. They are ideal for a range of applications, are robust, durable and flexible. They deliver high force at low heights and are therefore equally ideal in generating a powerful stroke as they are for providing air cushioning and vibration dampening in pneumatics industries.

Ideal for range of applications, these pneumatic actuators are robust, durable and flexible. They deliver high force at low heights, and are therefore equally ideal in generating a powerful stroke as they are for providing air cushioning and vibration dampening in pneumatics industries.

  • Low height, high force
  • Excellent vibration isolation
  • Quick delivery times
  • Suitable for angular movements with lateral flexibility
  • Frictionless, no sticking and slipping

Aventics rotary actuators

A pneumatic rotary actuator uses compressed air to convert linear motion to produce rotation, or rotate asymmetrical vane swing through a cylinder of different radii. The range of Aventics rotary actuators supplied by Tectra Automation includes rack and pinion actuators and rotary wing drives. We supply rack-and-pinion gears as well as rotary wing drives. A high-quality design and build provide exceptional reliability in any system requiring rotary motion. These pneumatic actuators have a high torque-to-size ratio and provide a virtually maintenance-free, fit-and-forget actuator in a range of mechanical applications.

  • 0° to 180°, 0° to 360° rack-and-pinion pneumatic actuators
  • 30° to 270°, 90° to 270° rotary wing drives
  • High strength and corrosion resistance
  • Single (spring return) or double-acting actuators
  • Compact pneumatic actuator design occupies less space

Whether it is in rotary or short- or long-stroke linear pneumatic actuators, Aventics is a world leader in pneumatic engineering performance!

The company broke away from Bosch Rexroth in 2014 to form a standalone pneumatics unit, but its reputation as one of the leading manufacturers of pneumatic actuators, drive and control components and systems is stronger than ever.

Aventics’ pneumatic actuators are used in thousands of pneumatic systems across the world in a variety of industries. Contact Tectra Automation today for an Aventics pneumatic actuator for your application!

Tectra Automation is headquartered in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, with branches in Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth. Its entire range is available countrywide, with fast turnaround times.

We also supply a complete range of pneumatic cylinders:

In addition to pneumatic actuators, we have a complete range of pneumatic cylinders. Move and lift small or large loads, with a maximum force of 5 tons! Our pneumatic cylinder range includes rodlessprofiletie rodround or crimp; guide, short stroke/compact, and double piston cylinders.

Frequently asked questions:

What are pneumatic actuators?
Pneumatic actuators convert compressed air or gas into mechanical motion to regulate final control elements.
What are pneumatic actuators used for?
Offering a number of advantages over hydraulic and electric actuators such as higher power density, lower weight and precision control, pneumatic actuators are used in a variety of applications. They are known for their use in automotive applications, such as engine control, braking systems and transmission control.
What is an example of pneumatic actuators?
Pneumatic actuators from Aventics consist of bellows actuators, rotary actuators and diaphragm accumulators. More information at the bottom of this page.
What does a rotary pneumatic actuator do?
A pneumatic rotary actuator uses compressed air to convert linear motion to produce rotation or rotate asymmetrical vane swing through a cylinder of different radii.
How do pneumatic actuation systems work?
Operating energy is generated by pneumatic actuators by using compressed air. Air builds up within the instrument creating pressure that is applied against the diaphragm or piston. This, in turn, moves the valve actuator on the valve stem resulting in mechanical motion.
What are the two types of actuators?
The type of actuator movement determines the actuator category. They can be either linear actuators or rotary actuators. The former produces linear motion in a straight line, while the latter produces rotary motion in a circular path.
