Bilge Water Treatment

We provide tailored bilge water treatment solutions from Filtration Group, designed to assist with water purification in marine operations. Bilge water, produced by all types of ships, is a mixture of greases, oil and sludge that accumulates in the lowest part of a ship called a bilge. It is created through a combination of factors, including fuel and lube oil, cleaning processes runoff, saltwater leaks and the dewatering of sedimentation and sludge tanks.

Disposing of untreated bilge water into the sea poses environmental risks because it contains contaminants harmful to marine ecosystems. To mitigate this, we offer solutions that comply with the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) regulation that all bilge water disposed into the sea must have a residual oil content of less than 15 ppm.

Bilge water treatment benefits:

  • Residual oil content in treated water can be reduced to below 1 ppm
  • Features a downstream membrane stage to the multiphase separator for separating residual water-oil emulsions under high pressures
  • Oil & other residues are concentrated & recycled
  • Complies with the IMP MARPOL MEPC.107 (49) international standards
  • Flow rate of 0.5, 1, 2, 5 & 7.5 m3/h
