Abrie van der Merwe has recently been appointed General Manager of Hytec Hydraulics in Botswana, effective 1 November 2017.
Abrie has over 23 years’ experience in the Fluid Power industry, the majority of which were spent in various positions within the Hytec Group. Abrie encompasses the Group’s commitment to a total single-source hydraulic, pneumatic and automation solutions supply with his experience across the Group’s specialist companies. He has experience at Tectra Automation, Hytec Fluid Technology and at Hytec, with his most recent position as Senior Technical Sales Representative at Hytec Kuruman in the Northern Cape. This holistic experience will serve him well at the Group’s growing operations in Botswana.
Reporting to Regional Manager, Adrian Smith, Abrie is responsible for managing sales, marketing and, most importantly, expanding and servicing the area’s customer base.
Abrie is married to Charlene and has two children, Giraux and Juan-Té. When he needs time to unwind and recharge, he enjoys the peace and tranquillity of visiting lesser-crowded places!
