From the CEO's desk: Re-imagining our world

Dear all,

This year, we’ve seen unprecedented new challenges and pressures placed on both our private as well as professional lives.

We’ve had to grow our mental resilience to stay focussed and optimistic while continuing to Move forward – as individuals, as families, as companies and as a nation.

We’ve had to re-imagine how we can continue to work through embracing the advantages of modern technologies. Covid-19 has, and continues, to force us to adjust our interactions to ensure we can all stay safe. In the early days of lockdown, especially, it took some getting used to not to see the usual busy-ness and activity in the corridors each day of the Rexroth HUBB!

Yet we’ve not only worked through the many challenges placed on us, we’ve created new strategies and opportunities to support our customers, and remained squarely focussed on offering seamless, professional service, whatever their requirements, wherever their site.

Against some not-insignificant odds, we’ve continued to make great operational strides towards our vision, Move Now, Drive Tomorrow, Shape Africa.

Whether we’ve been tasked with executing essential repairs and services; building new machines; or actively contributing to the fight against Covid-19 with screens and PPE, we’ve been there when we were needed.

We have also become an active contributor of the global Bosch Rexroth TechTalks, established to offer a virtual platform for our customers, where our hydraulic, pneumatic and automation experts share their knowledge in addressing many of the key challenges and questions our customers have in improving their operational performance. So even if we can’t be physically there, we offer our support and knowledge in a digital format, be it via a Live Chat, a “how to” Video or one of our advanced online traning offerings.

The Group continues to advance in our vision of increasing our closeness with customers, with the establishment of Bosch Rexroth Egypt in Cairo, and new distribution partners Magare Company Limited in Tanzania, Ocean Atlantic in Angola and Rema Tip Top in Madagascar.

These exciting new ventures demonstrate our agility in meeting the Group’s commitment that wherever our customers need us or wherever there is a demand for our technologies, Bosch Rexroth will be there to support them.

We are delighted to welcome our new partners to the Bosch Rexroth South Africa Group, and look forward to a prosperous relationship that I’m confident will be of great benefit for all parties.

Our North African presence is a very recent addition to the Group, and so it’s very encouraging that we’ve already expanded with a new branch in such short time. It also now brings the total number of African countries where we have a presence to 13.

Closer to home, Hytec South Africa opened a new branch in Lephalale, which will play a crucial role in supporting the hydraulic equipment requirements of the growing mining industry in the Limpopo Province.

You can read about these and the many other things we’ve been up to this year in this newsletter!

From all of us in the Group, I’d like to thank our customers for their continued support and confidence in the Bosch Rexroth South Africa Group this year.

To our employees, thank you for all the dedication and continued excellence in your work, even in such trying times. You have shown extraordinary solidarity and character, and this makes a big difference.

Let’s continue to be resourceful, focussed and optimistic as we tackle the new year!

Stay safe,

Tillmann Olsen
